Airbnb CEO: I have no interest in a deal with Google for hotel property
Airbnb is reportedly ready to sell a handful of properties in the Palm Springs area, including several in Palm Springs hotels.
According to a tweet from Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky, he will be meeting with Google CEO Sundar Pichai next week.
This will be the second meeting between the two companies and Airbnb has previously had a relationship with Google dating back to last year.
The two companies are currently embroiled in a lawsuit against one another over the service.
In December, Airbnb and Google reached an undisclosed settlement over a privacy breach.
Airbnb’s acquisition of hotels in the US is an escalation of its relationship with the Google search engine.
In October, Airbnb announced a deal to acquire hotels in Las Vegas for $2.2 billion.
The deal is expected to close later this year.
Airbnb has already been active in the hotel industry, with the company owning more than 100 hotel properties in California and Nevada.
